What Goes On Your Body Matters: The Note by Lyric Formulation Story
Share
There are two conversations happening in personal care right now. One is about ingredients: what is in the product, what it does to your body, what you would rather it not do. The other is about design: what the product looks like, where it lives, whether it belongs in a life that is otherwise curated with care.
Most brands are having one of those conversations. Note by Lyric is having both.
That is not an accident. It is the point.

## Why Clean Matters, and What Clean Actually Means
The word "clean" has been used so broadly in beauty and personal care that it risks losing meaning. Brands apply it to products that have not meaningfully changed their formulation. It gets attached to marketing copy that does not reflect the actual ingredient list.
We are going to be specific about what clean means at Note by Lyric, because specificity is more useful to you than a label.
**Aluminum-free.** The most common active ingredient in conventional antiperspirants is aluminum. These compounds work by temporarily blocking sweat ducts, which reduces perspiration. Note by Lyric does not use aluminum. That means our product functions as a deodorant, not an antiperspirant. It neutralizes odor rather than preventing sweat. That distinction matters. Sweating is a natural physiological process, and many women are choosing products that work with their bodies rather than against them.
**Residue-free.** If you have ever reached for a dark shirt after applying a stick deodorant, you know the problem. White residue on fabric. A film on skin. Stiffness where the product was applied. Our balm formula is clear on application and absorbs cleanly, leaving nothing behind that you would need to account for when you get dressed.
**Cruelty-free.** No animal testing, at any stage of development or production.
**Pregnancy-safe.** This matters to a meaningful portion of the women who use this product and we formulated with that in mind. The ingredients are pregnancy-safe, which is not universal in personal care.
**All skin types.** The formula was developed for universality, not for a specific skin chemistry. Whether you have sensitive skin, dry skin, or anything in between, the product is designed to work without irritation.
These are not claims that exist to make the product sound better. They are formulation decisions made at the beginning of development and held throughout. The product you receive is the product of those decisions.

## The Scent: Named, Specific, Considered
There is a way to write about fragrance that tells you almost nothing about what you will actually smell. Vague appeals to luxury and warmth and sensory richness. We prefer to name the notes.
Note by Lyric's signature scent: **white florals, rose, lily of the valley, sandalwood, and musk.**
**White florals** are the top register. Clean, bright, the first impression on skin. They read as fresh without being sharp, as floral without being heavy. They do the immediate work of the scent's opening.
**Rose** at this concentration is not the powdery, vintage rose of an older fragrance tradition. It is cleaner than that. More contemporary. A recognizable note that reads as familiar without being predictable.
**Lily of the valley** contributes a specific kind of brightness. Green-edged, light, delicate. It keeps the scent from settling into something too warm or too heavy. It is the note that makes the overall composition feel like spring light rather than an evening.
**Sandalwood** is where the scent begins to deepen. Warm, slightly creamy, with a softness that anchors the florals above it. Sandalwood is what allows the scent to linger rather than dissipate. It provides base and dimension without weight.
**Musk** is the quiet constant. The note you do not identify when you smell the scent but notice immediately when it is absent. Musk makes a fragrance feel like it belongs to the person wearing it. It is the element that makes a scent a memory rather than just an impression.
The overall effect: soft, clean, designed to linger gently.
Delicate on skin, lasting in memory.
That phrase is not a creative flourish. It describes the scent's actual behavior. Light on application, present hours later, recognizable without being intrusive. The kind of scent you catch on yourself and are glad for. The kind someone else notices without being able to name it.

## Travel-Sized by Design, Not by Compromise
0.3 oz. Nine grams. A metal charm casing that fits in the palm of your hand.
The size is sometimes the first question. People wonder if a product this small can last. It does. With daily use, Note by Lyric delivers four to six weeks of coverage from a single unit. The concentration of the formula and the precision of the application mean that each use delivers what you need without waste.
The format is travel-sized because the woman we design for is in motion. She does not want to check a deodorant. She does not want to carry a full-sized stick through security. She wants something that lives in her everyday bag, the same bag she brings to work, on a weekend, on a trip, and performs wherever she takes it.
The metal casing is not decorative for decoration's sake. Metal protects the formula. It does not flex or crack under pressure. It does not absorb heat the way plastic does. It is a better container for the product inside it, and it happens to also be a beautiful one.
Available in two finishes: **polished gold** and **polished silver.** The finish corresponds to no formula difference. Both are identical in scent and performance. The choice is aesthetic. Which one belongs with the objects you already carry?

## The Application
Twist. Apply. Clip.
Three words. The entire experience.
The twist mechanism exposes the balm from the bottom of the casing, like a lip balm. Apply to the underarm with brief contact. The formula is clear and absorbs quickly. Cap it, clip it back onto your bag, and continue your morning.
There is no wait time. No concern about what you are wearing. No second-guessing whether it is dry enough to put a shirt on. The product is designed for a morning that is already in motion.

Note by Lyric is manufactured in Miami, Florida. The production is local by choice.
Local production means we can hold quality standards closely. It means the people who make this product are people we can see, know, and support through inclusive hiring practices. It means that the care we put into the formulation decisions carries through to the manufacturing decisions.
Made in the U.S., with local production in Miami, we are proud to support inclusive hiring and thoughtful craftsmanship.
That sentence means something. It is not a statement of aspiration. It is a description of current practice.

## Clean Confidence, Without Compromise
The personal care aisle has asked women to choose for too long. Between a formula they trust and a product they are proud to carry. Between clean ingredients and genuine performance. Between something functional and something beautiful.
Note by Lyric was built on the conviction that this was a false choice. That a product could be aluminum-free and effective. Residue-free and beautiful. Travel-sized and lasting. Designed to be seen and formulated to be trusted.
The formula exists to prove that point. Everything in it was chosen. Nothing in it was defaulted to.
That is what clean means here.
